Kathryn was born in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija and was a former student of the OB Montessori Center Inc. in Greenhills and now taking a "homeschooling" at Angelicum College.[4]
Her first breakthrough role was Mara in the remake of Mara Clara with her co-star and real life best friend Julia Montes. Since its premiere, the teleserye was a consistent leader in the primetime ratings. Affirming its success, the show even picked up a nomination in the 2011 Banff World Media Festival in the "Telenovelas & Soap Operas" category.[5]
After the primetime teleserye finished, Bernardo soon began appearing in the Sunday afternoon teen show, Growing Up.

Kathryn Chandria Manuel Bernardo , known as Kathryn Bernardo

Mara Clara. Bernardo is currently a contract artist of Star Magic and ABS-CBN and most recently starred as Ana Bartolome in the 2011 drama film, Way Back Home.She also played the main protagonist Mikay in the primetime series Princess and I.
Together again with Montes, the show starred other up and coming ABS-CBN teen stars like Kiray Celis, Diego Loyzaga and Daniel Padilla. In the show, Bernardo played the role of 15-year old Ella, who lives with her single mother.[6] The show premiered strongly ranking number 2 overall in the afternoon block.[7]She has starred with Vice Ganda together with her love team partner, Daniel Padilla in the 2012 MMFF entry, Sisterakas.[15]Aside from her television and film careers, Bernardo is also a popular print-ad and commercial model having been chosen as an endorser for big brands like Bench and Coca-Cola, among others.[16][17]
For Princess and I, Bernardo released a single for the show's soundtrack. The single is titled "Mula Noon Hanggang Ngayon", originally sung by Lea Salonga. The album reached Gold status as of September 2012.
Daniel Padilla is the son of actor Rommel Padilla and actress Carla Ford (Screen name "Karla Estrada"). On May 28, 2012, Padilla released his debut self-titled Album, Daniel Padilla. The Album has six tracks with the carrier singleHinahanap-hanap Kita which is also featured in his primetime show Princess And I. According to Star Records producer Jonathan Manalo, Daniel's debut Album has sold more than 10,000 copies in less than a week.[7] On June 17 of the same year, Padilla was given a Gold Record Award for the sales of his debut album and later on Sold More than 20,000 Copies and Reached Platinum. Onetime, he said in an interview " I'm not a singer...I can't sing...because I am not a singer.. and I will never become one."
